Diary Entry 11/16/09

Hey Kids. Here's a preview of what you're about to read: shopping, musicals, dreams, humor, randomness, your mom. If any of that sounds interesting to you please read on, otherwise please leave because I'm not in a good mood.

Actually, I haven't been in a good mood for a while. I don't know if it's my "man-struation" cycle making me moody or if I'm depressed. I'd like to think I'm not depressed because when I see those anti-depressant medication commercials, I freak out.

Here's how I saw that: there's a blob with a face and a frown slowly moving around looking paranoid while a bird flies around it. Then it starts to rain because that's what happens when you're depressed. Then after the blob takes the medication a flower suddenly appears on the ground and the cloud goes poof and the bird reappears from behind it, which is to suggest that you might get hallucinations from being drugged. It's okay because you'll start to smile again, and be able to bounce around (even though you're a blob with no feet, but what isn't possible when you're high, right?).

Diary Entry 11/09/09

This is how I intended this blog to be all along: as a personal diary with my thoughts and comments regarding pop culture on the side, or like an appetizer, but certainly not like the main course its been the past several weeks. Let me know if you miss it and I'll incorporate it more often. Otherwise I'll mostly post entries like they were from my diary. I chose to use the term diary because it's cuter than calling it a journal. Journals are too professional and I think a diary is like inviting someone into your home, which is what I want to do; so come on in, but don't touch anything. And take your shoes off because I'm Asian.

Dear Diary,

I hope you know how lucky you are to be an electronic medium because life is fucking stressful. It's like a really long movie that only you will watch. When you're dead. Okay, I'm not really that depressed, but life has been pretty hard to handle recently. I barely have time to watch episodes of my favorite shows on Hulu over the weekend. That's how bad it is.

!!! gLee !!!

Don't need a catchy heading for this post because the title speaks for itself. Or I guess sings for itself in this case. Let's cut to the chase: this is the BEST show of the season, and the only show I've been religiously watching this year. I'm sure you feel the same way, and if you don't, get with it. Everybody's doing it. Like heroin for your ears and crack for your tone-deaf friends. Check it out:

Many more posts to come, but let's start the a few discussion topics, shall we? Sue Sylvester is my favorite character and here's why: She says the best things I've ever heard ever. Ever. Here are some selected quotes from the show, and the first 5 are from Sue:

"You think this is hard. I'm living with Hepatitis, that's hard."

"I like minorities so much, I'm thinking of moving to California to become one."

"Let me be frank: Your husband is hiding his Kielbasa in a Hickory Farms Gift Basket that doesn't belong to you."

"I empower my Cheerios to be champions. Do they go to college? I don't know. I don't care. Should they learn Spanish? Sure, if they wanna become dishwashers and gardeners."

"I'll often yell at homeless people: 'hey, how is that homelessness working out for you? try not being homeless for once.'"

"This is where our daughter or gay son will sleep."

"You may think that every guy in school would totally want to tap this, but my myspace schedule keeps me way too busy to date."

"Have you ever liked somebody so much you just wanna lock yourself in your room, turn on sad music and cry?"

There's nothing like a musical on television. I've always dreamed of going through life and occasionally bursting into song and dance in public. It just hasn't happened yet. Let me know if you're interested and we can stage it one day. I can follow you with a camera for a few minutes and you can catch me being creepy, then scream and make a big scene, after which we'll go right into a live performance of Paparazzi by Lady Gaga. Seriously let's do it.

As always, I'd love you more if you clicked the follow button on the right panel. And tell your friends about it. And I'd even consider loving you any way you want, as long as it's clean and safe and we video tape it. If you subscribe to my blog, that is. XOXO.

Britain's Taking Over My Ipod!

Omg I'm so British. So Aside from the hours I devote watching clips from UK's X Factor, I'm also on a constant search for good British music. I think it's my European heritage calling out to me or something because every time I watch Harry Potter I become the biggest bloke you've ever met, with the most Asian looking face you've ever seen. The combination is deadly, I know. Hi, my name is Cho Chang. It's like that, except I'm nothing like that stupid whore.

Back to the topic now. I know I tend to go on tangents a lot so if that annoys you let me know and I'll send you an email. Telling you to shut the fuck up. It's my blog, what.

Anyway, let me tell you about this new obsession I've stumbled upon. Her name is Cheryl Cole and she is fantabulous! And gorgeous. And so sassy, I love it.

She entered a talent competition a million years ago and eventually joined 4 other contestants to form what is now one of the most successful British girl bands of all time, Girls Aloud (this will be another post one day, trust). Then in 2008 she joined Simon Cowell and 2 other judges, both of whom I don't care about, on UK's X Factor, gaining her major recognition as "UK's sweetheart" as well as becoming the new face of L'Oréal. She's also a fashion icon. Bombshell!

Cut to the best part: her solo album and her first single, which by the way, is so so so hot. Serious. I dance naked to it every morning before I get ready to go to class. And it's been cold outside these days so you know it has to be a hot song to get my lazy ass out of bed.

The song is called Fight For This Love, and for some reason YouTube won't allow me to embed the video so you're just gonna have to click on the link the old fashion way. Sorry. Watch it. The choreography is insane.

Let me know what you think, even though I don't care, but I'm sure other people might. Also if this is your first time reading, FOLLOW! And tell your friends to follow. And your mother. You know what, might as well post the url as your facebook status, how about that. You'll thank me later when your friends tell you how cool you are for reading this shit. You're welcome. XOXO.

Break Over!

Hi guys, remember me? Life has been intense so I haven't published anything in a while, sorry about that. Actually, school has been intense, social life has been stunted due to school. And sleep has been non-existent due to me trying to gather the remains of my social life.

The good news is I'm back, or at least trying to be back. It's not the best comeback; I'm sure you've seen better. I promise next time I go missing for a few weeks I'll come back to tell you about some drug addiction or that I was slapped into a hospital bed by my pimp. Or something really interesting.

Stay tuned...new posts coming up soon...

Shut Up, You're Stupid. Vampires ARE Real. Part 1!

That's right. You know what I'm referring to. Well, actually you probably don't because there are now more vampires in the media than I care for. So this is a post for all the vamps, die hard fang fans, fang-bangers, people who want to do V, people who went to Forks recently for "personal" reasons, and the miscellaneous followers with reasons I can't even think of and quite frankly don't want to think of because they're probably way too hardcore and filthy for my imagination.

I'm splitting this post into 2 parts. This first part will be very Twilight intensive and the second part will be all about True Blood. I don't care for that new show, The Vampire Diaries, but if any of you have strong feelings for it, or any other vamp related media, feel free to comment and I'll see if that moves me to check it out.

I was always a fan of Buffy growing up so I think that show really set me up well for the craziness that happened to me last year, and again recently. This is very revealing and I feel a bit vulnerable writing about that part of my life for the public to read, but as many of you can relate to, I died a bit after I read Twilight, and continued to die throughout the other 3 books in the series. I stopped dying for a bit while reading Breaking Dawn though because I had to vomit. I mean, what the fuck was that?! I never want to read about a monster fetus forcing the mother to eat raw meat and destroying her from the inside ever again. Ever. But you still need to read it anyway.

Basically, the real reason you need to read the Twilight series is because Edward Cullen will change your life. You will never want a fictional character to be real more than Edward Cullen. I won't go into detail because I'm resisting the urge to re-read the series again. School starts next week and I can't risk missing class, skipping water to drink fruit punch and pretending it's blood, buying eyeliner, alienating my friends by quoting lines from the Twilight trailer, etc. Seriously. I'm sorry.

I might go into this more in later posts, but for now this is it. I'm sure I'll post something for New Moon after I see it. This won't turn into a vampire blog, but I'd love it if you'd comment so we can discuss this topic further. Stay tuned for the second part about True Blood...

PS: You should sign up to follow my blog, that way we can open discussions about these things. Subscribe if you want to be notified when new posts come up. XOXO!

"For Everyone in the Room, 2000 Yeses!"

If you can't already tell, I love music. Here's another music post, but I promise this won't turn into a music blog, because I have other interests as well. It's anything I'm addicted to at the moment, really. Like I said before, I'm a pop culture addict and I'm doing my best to get you hooked as well. You're welcome.

I found another video on YouTube that I've been watching over and over and over... I think you might as well subscribe to TheXFactorUK if you have a YouTube account. American Idol with British accents. Need I say more?

So this guy is pretty fabulous. He's says he's "a normal bloke" and "a normal geezer" but watch out. He can sing, he can dance, he can entertain. I really didn't expect much from him, and even when he started singing, he didn't sound too sensational, but then he goes further into the song and started to get more soulful, started to dance a bit, then a lot, and by the time he started to get down I couldn't close my mouth because I was jizzing in my pants it was such a fantastic performance. His dancing reminds me of a more subtle Michael Jackson, or a more masculine Ellen Degeneres. With great fashion and a captivating smile.

Must Listen! I Like To Dance by Hot Chelle Rae!

The other day I couldn't sleep so I sat on my bed eating candy and watching videos on YouTube. I came across this AMAZING band called Hot Chelle Rae. They are awesome. Seriously. Check it out!

About two seconds later I downloaded their single, I Like to Dance, on iTunes. It's been playing on a loop on my ipod for the past few days.

That's how I do things though. I have a bit of an addictive personality so I will usually get hooked on something and exhaust it for days or even weeks. The good thing is it's usually music or something less expensive than crack but still gets you high enough to have some fun. Then, like a classically trained addict, I get everyone around me involved as well so we can all get hooked together. Because I'm such a good friend. And that's what I'm doing right now. Friend. So listen to this song. Then get it. Then subscribe to this blog. So we can be real friends.

"A Little Superstar - We Need Another Slice of That"

I love that quote about Ethan Boroian. It was uttered by Dannii Minogue, one of the judges on The X Factor 2009. Even if you don't watch X Factor, which is a UK show similar to American Idol, you need to watch this clip. This guy is from Chicago but living in the UK and he auditioned for X Factor this season. Watch the video!

First of all, I LOVE THIS SONG! It's one of my favorite songs and I definitely think people should listen to more Kings of Leon. Second, did you watch the video? Did you see the guy singing? I love the way they played him in with some Metro Station and focused on the female judges turning their heads and smiling excitedly.

He already looks like a superstar. Way to work that scarf. And that smile. Then he opens his mouth and he can actually sing! Plus after he gets through to the next round, HE CALLS HIS MOM! Well played. I'm predicting a career for this guy. Not just one of those "careers" that most of the American Idol "artists" try to have after they're off the show, but a real one. With awards. And fans. And a sex tape.

PS: Also, maybe you could subscribe to my blog? Please?

Huskies Will Kick Your Ass!!!

Wow. History happened today. Well, worthwhile history. If you follow college football at all, this is the post to read. So once upon a time, the University of Washington Huskies lost every single game. FOR MORE THAN AN ENTIRE SEASON. For a really long time but let's just forget about that because it's irrelevant now.

The first game this year was against LSU, a hopeful foreshadowing of the season to come because, as fans will attest, WE CAN CARRY THE BALL THIS YEAR! YAY! We didn't win, but we barely lost. Next we played Idaho and won. It was exciting but it was Idaho so it wasn't the biggest deal because nobody cares about Idaho. Sorry Idaho. I love you. And your potatoes.

Cut to today: HUSKIES BEAT THE USC TROJANS!!! Check out the madness that happened at the stadium after the win. It is amazing.

I'm so glad our school color is purple. It looks so beautiful. Like that song. How the fuck does it go? Something about purple mountains? I think it's a patriotic song, but forgive me for forgetting. I'm an immigrant.

Anyway, watch out, bitches. It's comeback time. Go Dawgs!

My Obsession with Exclamation Marks!

If you can't already tell from the titles of my last few posts, I love exclamation marks. I think it's because I'm Asian, and it's a very anime thing to do. Like every time something good or bad happens to an anime character, they freak out in exclamation marks. Not all the time because sometimes they jump up and down or open their eyes really wide. (Which by the way, never actually happens to Asian people because let's face it, how wide can we open our eyes to begin with? Let's get real. This anime phenomenon is just wishful projection of what the community wishes were possible. I'm just sayin')

Real Asian people do these things too sometimes. Like when we take pictures. That's what the fingers mean. It's a secret, very hush hush in the community so don't tell anyone I told you, but that's what they mean. It's suppose to show excitement and enthusiasm, but I think it's just a natural reaction now. Like after years of doing it all the time, Asians have evolved this instinctive signal with their fingers every time someone holds a camera in front of them. That's me in the picture. How wide are my eyes opening? Not so wide. I'm just sayin'.

H1N1 Swine Flu!

So I know everyone has heard of the Swine Flu and how bad it is and how contagious it is. Well everyone really is getting it. It's fucking NOT a joke. Especially when you go to college and there are thousands of kids running around. And of course we don't stay home when we're sick. And why should we? If we're paying a ton of money for school then of course we're going to be in class if we can tough it out. (This is coming from me, the boy who skips class because he's 10 minutes late and doesn't feel like being late so he doesn't go at all)

Pretty much the entire Greek system at my school is on lock-down because there are hundreds of students in any given house and if a few people have it, they'll all catch it. School doesn't even start until the end of September and the dorms haven't even opened yet, but by the time school starts, I feel like everyone on campus will be wearing surgical masks. It'll be like a theme party every single day. The only thing is I don't want to wear a mask. Except if it's a masquerade mask, then I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I know I should wear a mask, and all the other Asians do it all the time so why not, right? Even though I hardly talk to anyone, especially when I'm walking because I have a tendency to have my headphones on and stomp the halls like it's a runway show during fashion week. I guess if I'm contagious then I'll wear a mask, but otherwise unless I can find a way to make it look like a fashion accessory, I'm not inclined to wear one. Honestly, I hope I do get Swine flu. Soon. Just so I can get it over with.

Kombucha!

So about two month ago my friend Emilee told me she'd been growing her own kombucha and I was like what the fuck is that? Then she explained that it was fermented tea. It did not sound appealing if you can imagine. Then a few weeks later I took a sip of some and sure enough it tasted weird. It's a bit tangy like vinegar and since it was fermented it smelled a little like vinegar as well.

Cut to a few weeks ago when I decided to buy a bottle to see if I could get myself to change my mind. Now I love the stuff and here's why:

* It gives you SO MUCH ENERGY. After the first few sips you almost feel a little tipsy. Once that short phase is over, usually a few minutes, you feel refreshed and energized. At least I do.

* The bottle claims to boost metabolism, digestion, immune system, liver function, and support healthy skin and hair. I didn't really have a problem with these things before, so I don't know if they're true or not, but it doesn't hurt. Oh, except that it's pretty expensive. A bottle costs around $3-$4, which is why most people grow their own. You can get it at grocery stores such as Whole Foods, PCC, or QFC.

* It's cool. It's like what cigarettes used to be before they found out how harmful smoking is and now it's frowned upon. Well they haven't said anything about kombucha and I feel like science is advanced enough to tell by now if it's bad for you, especially since kombucha has been around for decades. I hate giving in to popular trends but not a lot of people drink kombucha yet so it's okay for me to join in while I can still claim that I was a fan before it got famous. I love that. Like when I became fans of random unknown artists and they ended up being really famous. I won't drop names because their Grammys would crush my ass, but you get what I mean.

So anyway give it a try. I'm not officially endorsing it, but if you happen to read this and you also happen to work for the kombucha industry let me know if you're interested in an advertising deal. The 2 people that read my blog will be happy to click on your ads as long as I give them a cut of what you would pay me for advertising.

New Direction. Hopefully Forward.

When I first started blogging, I really wanted to do something related to the entertainment industry. You know, blog about celebrities and television and fashion. Now I'm thinking of getting a little/a lot more personal with my posts. The previous post about TSwift and Kanye was out of sheer outrage. In the future, if I care enough about the media then I'll comment on it, but mostly this will be about me. Don't worry though. I'm VERY INTERESTING <3

More soon...

"[Kanye] is a jackass" - The President

For those of you who don't have cable, or Twitter, here's what went down at the VMAs this year. Videos were shown, awards were handed out, performances, Lady Gaga hung herself (part of the performance), blah blah...and then...Kanye West happened.

You can watch the videos on YouTube (seriously, you barely have to look for it, it's everywhere) and I know you already know about it because honestly, if you're reading this then you have a computer. So here's how I feel about it:

* Taylor Swift deserves the award. First county singer EVER to win a VMA and best selling artist in 2009! And yes Kanye, Beyonce's video was awesome, and she won Best Video of the Year later that same night, so if you weren't too busy scheming your publicity stunt, you'd remember that Beyonce lost to Taylor in one category, and had several chances left to win. FOR THE SAME NOMINATED VIDEO!!!

* Beyonce is a high class act. Way to save the night by offering Taylor a second chance to speak when you won your award, B.

* Kanye West is a douchebag. Oh, but then he posted on his blog about how bad he feels about it. Um... still a douche. Oh, but then he blogged again reminding people about how bad he feels. Um... yeah still doesn't change what happened. Douche. Oh! But then he apologized to Taylor. Via the Jay Leno show. Where he can be seen feeling bad about what happened. Boo hoo...poor douchebag...

* Obama even said Kanye is a jackass. And please stop giving the President shit for using the word jackass or voicing his opinion on current events. It wasn't even an official quote. Someone twittered it after overhearing him say it! GoBama, tell it like it is!

* That's all. I definitely had stronger feelings about this when it happened, but like most highs it eventually wore off. If anyone wants to bitch about this some more, or even bring it back up for bitching in the future let me know. We can have a sleepover.

Back from the dead, or something like it...

So it's been months since I've posted anything. I will start again and hopefully make this a fantastic blog someday. I definitely have some aim as to what I want to write about now though! Stay tuned...

TV - ANTM Cycle 12

How did this happen? How did 11 cycles roll on by and we still don't hear any news about the past winners? Are they still models? Are they all just like most of the American Idol winners now, fighting to keep their houses and contracts while America forgets about them?

And now cycle 12 is about to premier. I don't know, but I'll ask the obvious question: Is Tyra going to be Oprah-Sized this cycle? That should be an option at McDonalds. Would you like it super-sized? No, I'm really hungry. Let me Oprah-Size it please.

Are you laughing? Well, how dare you. Oprah and Tyra are legends! I don't care if they turn fat, skinny, lesbian, white, asian, canadian, I don't care. I love them.

So back to Top Model. They do 2 cycles a year so that's why we're on cycle 12 now. I can't wait. I don't care how repetitive this show is, I watch it because of Tyra. The skinny bitches competing to see who has the best photoshopped pictures are entertaining, but when Tyra opens her mouth during panel, I stop breathing. It's just good TV. Ummm...remember her crazy attack on that one girl during that one cycle no one remembers but that video is all over youtube? Yeah. That's right

So watch it! Or just follow my blog because if something juicy happens you know I'll post it. The premier of cycle 12 is Wednesday March 4th at 8pm on the CW. It's a 2 hour premier!

PS: You can click on any of the pictures I have to enlarge it. Also, Here's the link to the show's web page on CW.com: ANTM.

Fashion - My New Favorite Website

I'm really excited to share this. I've been spending all my free time on my new favorite men's fashion website! There is SO much to read and SEE! They also have a magazine that's equally amazing. I still enjoy buying and reading GQ and other fashion magazines for guys, but VMAN is almost pure high fashion.

This is from their new photo spreads for Spring 2009. It's all about bright colors and, my favorite new thing, white pants! All the clothes in this picture are Gucci. I especially love the white pants and shoes on the second guy on the left, and the layered blue and red cardigans on the middle guy.

If only I could afford designer clothes...maybe some day. If or when that happens, I'll be ready. They would have to lock me up in a cage until the clothes go into retail or I would sneak into the tents and tear the clothes right off of the models after they leave the runway. I'm serious.

So check out the website. You'll love it. And don't worry, I'll post something for you girls later, because I love Top Model, Project Runway, and pretty much anything haute couture.

Music - Taylor Swift

Tay is coming to Seattle! Yay! I love her, but who doesn't? She's amazing. I bought her second album Fearless a month ago and then her first album Taylor Swift later that same day because she's too good not to collect. Then I went on YouTube and watched every video with her in it.

She is super super hot. Any haters can just suck it. I love her. I love her face. I love her music. I love her clothes. I fantasize about wearing all her dresses one day. And her boots.

She's so fierce. Plus she's supermodel tall so she would totally stomp on the crazy bitches on Top Model.

So she's playing at the Key Arena on May 15th, 2009 in Seattle. You should definitely go. Do it.

You can get all of her info on her official website:

TAYLOR!!!

I visit it every hour on the hour and occasionally on the half hour. I really want to post her songs, but I still need to ask people about how to do that and if I'll get in trouble or not. If you know, please tell me!

I'll take LOTS of pictures at the concert so if you love her, be jealous, and either go to see her or wait until May for me to post pictures from the concert!

Beginnings!

This is my first post! How did this happen? I know I should be studying or working or doing something more active, but this shit is so addictive. As if Facebook didn't take up enough of my time, now I'm a blogger. ifyouseekamy.

So most of this blog will be me ranting about things I like. My favorite things. Kinda like Oprah's favorite things, except I hate a lot of things too and I'm not the queen of television so I don't need to be nice about it.

Ummm...there's a chance this might shut down because nobody will read it, so comment on stuff if you are reading so I know I'm not doing this for nothing. And if you have experience with this shit and have ideas for me, let me know! My email is in the profile.

XOXO!
